A marketplace that changes with the seasons.
Sznmart is built around how people actually shop β by season, with room to negotiate, and patience for what's coming next. Founded in 2024 in Johnson City, Tennessee.
Most marketplaces feel flat.
Search a thing, see a price, click buy. That's it. No room to negotiate, no urgency around release windows, no recognition that what's relevant in March is different from August.
We thought e-commerce should feel more like the rhythm of real seasons β and more like the small markets where prices are conversations. So we built four ways to buy on the same platform: standard purchases for everyday items, name your price in the Deal Zone, live bidding in the Bid Zone, and the daily markdown in the Drop Zone.
And we tied it all to the calendar. Each season has its own homepage, its own featured departments, its own visual personality. Spring is greens and seedlings; Winter is gifts and cold-weather goods. The platform you visit in April isn't the same platform you visit in October.
Four ways to buy & sell.
Same products, four different selling models. Buyers choose how they want to shop; sellers choose how they want to sell.
Four moods. Four homepages.
Sznmart's homepage transforms with the calendar. Each season has its own color palette, featured departments, and editorial voice β auto-rotated based on the date.
Spring
Garden, fashion, fresh starts. Heirloom seeds, pollinator gardens, Easter, spring cleaning, weekend dirt.
Summer
Outdoor living. Beach gear, picnic sets, warm-weather fashion, hammocks, lighter goods that catch breeze.
Fall
Cozy & harvest. Sweaters, candles, Halloween, Thanksgiving table, the slow drift toward indoor life.
Winter
Gifts & gathering. Holidays, cold-weather gear, indoor projects, the kind of quiet you want from your inbox.
Built by two people in East Tennessee.
No VCs, no growth-at-all-costs. We bootstrapped Sznmart to serve sellers and buyers who care about provenance, fair pricing, and the way real markets work.
Mun spent ten years building e-commerce platforms for clients before getting tired of one-size-fits-all checkout. Sznmart is the platform he wanted to use as a buyer β with room to negotiate, recognition for loyal customers, and seasons that actually mean something. Lives in Johnson City with two cats and one strong opinion about heirloom tomatoes.
Aliyah ran a vintage-restoration shop for seven years before joining Mun to build Sznmart. She's why Bid Zone and Deal Zone exist β she wanted a home for items where the price is a starting point, not a final answer. Handles seller relationships, policies, and any time something needs human judgment instead of code.
Two years of building.
A spreadsheet, a logo, and a bad name
The marketplace was first sketched on a napkin in March 2024. Mun's first attempt was called βSeasonMartβ β Aliyah lobbied for βSznmartβ because the brand needed to feel less like a Costco competitor and more like a place you'd actually want to spend time.
12 sellers in the alpha
We invited 12 small businesses across the Southeast to join a private alpha. Spring Garden Co. was the first to list β they're still our top seller by GMV. The alpha taught us that Name-Your-Price needed a hidden floor (early version showed it; sellers gamed it).
Spring 2025 launch
Public launch ran through Spring 2025 β 38 sellers, 1,420 products, 4,820 customers in year one. The first Bid Zone auction (a 1968 Tiffany lamp from Heritage Lighting Co.) hit reserve in 6 hours.
A full four-zone marketplace
We're entering Spring with four seasonal homepages, the Deal, Bid, and Drop zones live, and 0% commission for sellers. Still no VC. Still in Johnson City. Still answering support emails ourselves.
Where we are right now.
Updated quarterly. We share these because most marketplaces don't β and we want sellers to see exactly what they're joining.
